RIPS ORGANISES ‘OPEN DAY’ FOR PROSPECTIVE APPLICANTS

The Regional Institute for Population Studies (RIPS), University of Ghana has organized an ‘Open Day’ for prospective applicants for the 2019/2020 admission window.

The purport of the ‘Open Day’ was to woo prospective applicants to the Institute by exposing then to the Institute’s programmes – Master of Arts (MA), Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) all in Population Studies. Participants were also taken through content of courses, career prospects for RIPS graduands and mentorship opportunities at the Institute.

The Director, Prof. Joseph Yaro opened the event by appreciating all those present. The MA Co-ordinator made a presentation on what the field of Population studies is about, and also dwelt on the structure of the MA/MPhil programmes. Afterwards, the PhD Co-ordinator, Dr. Ayaga Bawah took interested applicants through the Institute’s PhD programme.

The Session was very interactive with some participants probing into opportunities RIPS students may have, such as scholarships. It is expected that the Open Day will continue to an annual event to expose the public to expertise the Institute continues to offer.
